Allen Meadows - Score: 92 (2015 July)

It had been a few years since I last tried this and it remains absolutely lovely with its highly expressive and wonderfully spicy black fruit nose that is only just now beginning to display background nuances of secondary development. The lush, opulent, dense and mouth coating middle weight flavors are supported by moderately firm tannins that are largely if not completely buffered on the impressively long, minerally and well-balanced finish. This is reasonably approachable now though for my taste it could still use a few more years of cellaring though I stress that it would no longer be a crime to open a bottle now. In sum, the '99 Beaux Monts is a lovely effort that should improve for a few more years and then hold effortlessly for 20 more. Tasted multiple times but only this once recently.
